When an interviewer asks “How do you work with difficult team members?”, I assume they mean actually difficult…Not misunderstood, not quirky, but someone who pushes back, resists feedback, or brings a bad attitude into the room. And anyone who has actually worked with difficult team members knows this: You don’t win with those people by trying to change them. You win by managing the work and protecting the team. So, here’s how I answer the question. I start by saying, I keep it transactional if
